Capture Sports & Entertainment successfully helped The Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation (VLCF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, transform its brand, positioning it to increase awareness and expand fundraising efforts outside Wisconsin. Since helping the foundation launch nationwide in mid-2017, we continue to lead the creation and execution of numerous events, marketing and public relations. We have secured media coverage in 31 states, worked with pro athletes from across the country, fostered new relationships and partnerships and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.

THE STORY

There was a sense of camaraderie as NFL Hall of Fame Inductee Jim Kelly stood on stage to accept the 2018 Vince Lombardi Award of Excellence for leading with courage and strength throughout his life. A hush fell over the crowd as they felt emotion with every word he said. “Throughout my life I’ve been through a lot, and it’s a journey of perseverance. My dad instilled in me as a young kid to keep fighting and never give up.”

Everyday there are more than 4,700 new cancer diagnoses. Since 1971, VLCF has been a part of the battle against cancer in Wisconsin. When it hired Capture, together we envisioned that the brand could do more by expanding its mission across the country.

We strategically outlined the foundation’s communication goals and ongoing fundraising efforts with the desire to increase donations and raise awareness nationwide. We helped it reach its desired positioning and have taken marketing and donor engagement to the next level, including rebranding, managing events and media relations and producing digital work, including social media, e-blasts and e-newsletters.

As part of the expansion, VLCF also expressed interest in building out its funding with long-time supporter and friend, Bart Starr. In 2017, Capture led the efforts to brand and launch the Starr Children’s Fund, as a branch of the foundation.
